Its not how you finished, it's that you finished!
Being in Business has its ups and downs almost daily. I have learned many things from my past boss's, supervisors and a lot from friends. Some of these things have been good information and some not so much. But most of all I have learned from everyone of them. I love my Business and appreciate everyday that I get to do what I love. Life has enough stress why make it harder by doing something you hate. My wish to my children is they find that passion in their career choice. Here is some of my "love" that I created for my recent clients.
I will tell I am happy cushion season is over! Now on to the wedding parties.!
I do it for the people..
If you know me you know I love what I do. My customers receive the best service possible to them and their garments. Sometimes I receive lovely gifts for what I do. This week I received "thank you" gifts.
Thank you to my customers! Without you there would be no

Busy Busy Busy
Wow it has been a crazy month. People coming and going , family events and just plain old summer time fun. So some things I have taken photos of and some things I forgot to! But that's what happen when you try and run things on your own!
This is what my work area looks like! My husband keeps reminding that I said I like to sew lol.
The top photo is black sound proof rubber wall put up by my customers husband. It blocks the noise so you can sit and enjoy you deck! Good idea but she calls it the "Dexter" wall lol. She wanted them covered! So I made her curtains for both sides with Velcro tabs and side ties to hold them closed and she loves them. They brightened up her deck and now it doesn't look like bad things are happening behind the big black wall!
(Pardon the wrinkles, was pressed before I took them to her, but its organic hemp outdoor fabric that wrinkles if you touch it but will hang nicely and unwrinkle on its own. )
Please do stay tuned for the big reveal of our company we are adding to our existing one!

Whats been happening
We are in the depth of the warm weather lately. With that warm sunshine many people are getting their back yards ready for their entertaining season. With that comes many many cushions that need to be recovered as quick as we can. So we have been sewing up a storm with cushions on top of cushions for their beautiful yards. Take a look!
You are welcome to contact us to recover your cushions. We take about 7-10 days to get them completed for you.

Two talents come together
A customer of mine asked me to make little outfits for girls for Caribana. This would make the little ones feel just as special as the adults. Well I can sew but I am not much on blinging things up!
This is how two talents come together on a project! The time and patience this lady and her family ! You did a great job!
What an amazing bunch! The girls look awesome. Thanks for sharing your talents with me!

Another Beautiful Bride
This is a lovely customer of mine that had me make her a Bolero for her dress. I love it when the Brides send me photos of them all dressed up and ready to take that walk down the isle. These are the best shots of excited and pleasure as they are taking in their day. They should be so proud of themselves for all the work they do to make their day perfect. We all know it is about the Bride and Groom. As long as they are happy its a fantastic time for all. I pride myself in taking the time to make the alterations and custom products are done in a fashionable timeline and to their expectations.
On another Alteration note...
The past weekend was Mother's Day and my hubby and I took off on our bikes for a ride through the Distillery District. If you don't know what it is www.thedistillerydistrict.com . A lot of Weddings are performed there and then the photos are taken all around the grounds. Its a beautiful thing to watch. Except when you are a Seamstress. The first thing I do is look at how beautiful they are then "SOMETIMES" there are those bad fittings that pop up! It saddens me to see people spend the time to pick the dresses for their day and then have someone butcher the alterations and fitting them incorrectly. I am not perfect but I do know what I am doing and I work my hardest to make you look your best in your gowns. Whether you are the Bride or bridesmaids, you all are special in the group. Most people would not notice the imperfections but that's no excuse. If you are a seamstress please take pride in your work and it will pay off in the future for you and you will make someone's day brighter.

Sentimental Reasons
Sometimes people will ask me to do projects for them that are a little unusual or most others would think it should be thrown out.
A customer called and asked me to repair some down filled pillows and duvet given to him from a special family member. Its old and someone else tried to repair the pillows with the wrong fabric. Then they got a puppy and he tore the duvet. He threw it in a bag and it has sat for the last 3yrs. One day he thought he would give it another try again for some proper repairs. As you can see from the photo one whole pillow is in a bag the other not so bad, the rip in the duvet wasn't that bad either! Two brand new pillows and a touch up of a tear with a seam and presto he has his special blanket back.
So now when you ask a seamstress why she does some projects, sometimes its for sentimental reasons!

Happy Easter
Today I got to my grandsons Pj's for Easter. I like to be the Gramma that has the fun things and traditions so this year I thought we would do Pj's and Pinata. We were trying to figure out what type of pinata to get because I wasn't into them smashing the Easter bunny for candy! So we thought we would go traditional and do a Donkey. Its full of candy and toys. This is going to be a blast tomorrow!
Hoppy Easter to all!

This is what happens when you work from home...
Sometimes working from your home can have its advantages and disadvantages. The one disadvantage is the kitchen! Periodically I find myself wondering off, leaving a project to go see what's new in the kitchen. So while being distracted by needing a snack I found a book my friend gave me.
I was not looking for a detox book but the recipes looked so yummy! From my last blog I talked about my kalelicious that I got at the Kensington Market. It was so yummy that I thought I would buy some kale and try the Kale Chips Recipe in this book. They looked so yummy and tasted great before going in the oven.....
It was a simple recipe of extra virgin olive oil and sea salt. Tasted rather nice. Well I learned that parchment per is not the same as wax paper and smoked my house up. Got it out before it started to burn. They cooked for about 12mins and tada .
This is what came out! Out of 2 beads of Kale was a cereal bowl of "chips". Well I am not sure I did this right but they did not taste as good cooked! They were extremely dry like dirt! Also made my house stink for hours! I was not thinking that the smell would be so strong because of it being a sea water produce. Not for me. I will stick to eating my Kale in smoothies...

Sun Filled Weekend
What an amazing weekend to take off (sort of) and just travel around the city. After meeting a lovely lady early Saturday morning for an alteration fitting it was off to visit The Kensington Market. What an amazing artist spot to go and tour around watch the people, shop at Essence of Life Health Food store, and get delicious corn tortillas at Perollas. Then we stopped into Moon Bean coffee shop for lattés and a delicious treat! After that we decided to continue our day with a trip to BJ's Supermarket on Gerrard St. where you can get the best Samosa's. Just to keep with the flow of the craziness of the day I then decided to give my doggies there spring hair cuts!
This is what a weekend off of sewing is for me!
How do you spend yours!?

Time to change the Home Decor
Spring has arrived! Now is the time to get your Home Décor items in before it gets to late... There are so many colours and styles to choose from this year... These curtains are for a client who has extremely large wide windows and all 13 of them had to be attached together to make several different sizes of panels . These could have been done custom style but because of time constraints she went with manufactured and we altered accordingly! Either way they look amazing. Feel free to contact me for all your Home Décor needs.
Have a great weekend!

Bridal Gown Alteration
UPDATE....The wedding dress is finished! The train has been removed and corset back has been added. This is such a fantastic trend for women to do to their gowns. I recommend you have a lovely "V" shape from the top to the bottom. This can bring the dress in to shape your body nicely. To tie up a corset back it can be a little tricky but there are some great YouTube videos on how to do it properly or cone visit me and I can show you how!

Another week of sewing...
Another week of Alterations and Custom sewing. The nice thing about being a seamstress is the constant variety I get to work on. This week my friend went back to work after 2yrs off. So we went shopping for a new wardrobe for her and have altered it to fit her new self! Now I am on to the a wedding dress for a lovely lady that is getting married in a very warm client! We are adjusting the dress from zipper back to corset and taking the train off. I will post photos of the finished product!
Changing a Gown from zipper back to corset is a common practice for women now. Its a simple process and not very costly! Contact me for further information if you would like to know if your dress can be done!
